Hello to all,
I just installed my new head unit today and have a couple of questions about properly tuning my system. The equipment in question is as follows:
Head Unit: Eclipse CD8454
Components: Jl XR-650 CSi
Rear Speakers: Diamond Audio M391i
Subwoofer: Brahma 15"
Four-Channel: Jl 300/4
Monoblock: Jl 1000/1
1) Should the filters for the 300/4 (rear and front) and the 1000/1 (Amp LP Filter) be set to "Off" so I can just use the head unit for tuning?
2) For the components, will I even use the crossovers or will I use the head unit?
3) The 1000/1 has a "Preamp Output Section"; should this be switched to full range, amp filter or out filter?
4) Using a sealed enclosure, will I use the "Infrasonic Filter" or leave it turned off?
Thanks to any patient people who can shed light on these topics.

1.  I like to use the filters on the amp if they are high quality.  That head unit, however, is one of the best.  Use one or the other.

2.  Always use the crossovers on components.  It allows the proper frequencies to pass to the respective drivers while maintaining the proper impedance of each driver and the proper slope.

3.  If you have sub-out RCA's going to the sub amp, and RCA's going to the components amp, the output switch on the sub amp isn't affecting anything.  It's only used if you are daisy-chaining the signal out to another amp.  If you were, you could use that amp as a preamp before sending the signal on.

4.  You can leave it off.

Build the box so that it performs well in the worst case scenario and, in return, it will reward you at all times.

Thanks, Stevdart. Bonus points for replying so fast... I'll make use of the Eclipse deck and turn off the filters; I need to justify my investment! One point to clarify:    will using the component crossovers mean I don't use them on the head unit? (I understand you can do the same thing through the 8454)

Correct.  The deck will be sending a full range signal.
