How can i make the top of  my roof so that it can hold up a 12 inch screen which weights around 6 pounds. The top of the roof is made out of a fabric material and is to thin for four half inche screw to hold it.
No security system can beat the tow truck :(

Is the headliner actually fabric or is it fiberboard? Usually most manufacturer's include a bracket that goes above the headliner and when you mount the monitor it sandwiches the headliner between the bracket and monitor. If it is just fabric then you may be SOL. If it is fiberboard and you don't have the bracket then you can use a piece of 1/4 mdf above the headliner in place of the bracket.

What I would do is pull down the head liner enough so that you could see above the headliner.....

That thin material will not support your screen...So what you need to look for is a brace that runs across the roof...USUALLY you can take the mounting plate that comes with the Screens and USING SHORT SELF TAPPING SCREWS....Screw that mounting plate into the cross brace that runs across the roof....Then all you have to do is mount the screen to the Now well supported plate...Just use common sence and look at the screws you use make sure they will not go through the roof of your car...

If that wont work Get 1/4" MDF and cut a piece long enough that it will stretch across the headliner reaching BOTH B Pilars....Wedge it above the B Pillars giving you a stable mount...Just check and make sure that the MDF does not make a nasty looking crease in your headliner....

Good luck and have fun

Agreed let's hear the year/make/model of the vehicle and we can give more ideas. Unless it's a convertible I've never seen a vehicle with only fabric up there.

Some of the new Dodge Durangos have a thin form shaped material head liner...There is NO backing to it...Just a heat formed material....Very thin

You'll have to insert a metal plate into the headliner and attach it to the roof supports if the material is not strong enough to support the plate.

What I meant by that is there must be a metal roof up there unless it's a convertible. And yes the new durangos headliner is awesome to work with damn near impossible to crease it.
