I have a 95 chevy lumina. My dad had to put a kit in the dash to install a single din radio. My brother took the radio out. Now Im going off to school and will be putting another radio in using the same kit that was originally installed. I was wondering if the radio is supposed to be screwed to the kit, because my dad said that the trim plate would hold the radio in place. I just need to know so the radio doesnt fall out. I need to know if it needs screws or not.

With that car it is DIN mounted, so you use the radio's cage to secure the radio to the kit.  Just bend the tabs all around the cage to the kit (locking it in place) and slide the radio in.
