I just installed Speedhut's El Gauges on my 2005 Impreza 2.5 RS, but when I put the car in any gear besides Park, the panel turns on even though I have the lights turned on. Also, when I switch from the low lights to the high lights, the new gauges go off. Does anyone have an idea on what is happenning and how to fix it?

Thanks

Well, the instructions said that I should wire them to the 12v pos and 12v neg in the connectors from the electrical system to the gauge cluster. I wired them to the black and red main cables on the main connection to the gauge cluster.

if you put indiglo gauges on your car you need to wire them to your parking light so they turn on with your lights.

use a digital multimeter to test for your parking lights, the wire for the lights usually runs at the driver kick panel to the driver underdash.

Ok, if I use a digital multimeter, what should I be looking for?

BLACK/ red or orange at the parking light switch, positive.when testing for this wire with your meter the wire will be at ground, when you turn the light on the wire will change to12 volts. make sure you turn the dimmer switch off and on if the voltage on the wire does not change more than .25 volts than that's your wire.If it changes more than 1volt than that's not the wire.
