Burnt Voice Coil?

so my friend gave me 2 10" concept subs because he didnt want them anymore, one of them is fine but the other one only plays if you keep pressure on the cone of the woofer. i wouldnt mind getting it to work but if its hopeless i will just tear it apart and check out whats inside. thanks for any input

sounds like the coil is seperated, look at the tinsel leads if you cant see any visual damage then its dead

Once you rip one of those things apart there's not much to look at...

yeah thats what i dont want to do, so yeah all the tinsels are fine, if play it and move them nothing happens, but once the dust cap us pushed down it works fine, i can turn it upside down and it works from the pressure on the surround, i dont want to get rid of it cause i wanna hear both subs pound against my old rockfords, anyways thanks

you could invert the subs, this may work.   I have done this on a setup before when one of the subs was starting to go and the guy was to cheap to buy a new sub.
