Clarion APX400.4 Specifications, Clarification?

Question about the specs on a 4/3/2 channel Clarion amp... Here are the specs:

Maximun Power Output 380 W 

The line I'm interested in is the "Typical Bridged Power 1kHz 190 W x 2 @ 0.5% THD."  Basically, my brother received two RF XLC 10" subs (200W RMS each).  He has a 2ch amp running 140W @ 2 ohms, and another Clarion APX400.4 running to his door speakers.

I know usually the 4/3/2 channel amps are for door speakers, but because of that bridged power of 190W line on the Clarion specs, i'm confused.... maybe he could wire the Clarion to power the 200W RMS subs  Any help?

WOW ! That's alot of distortion at .5%. Did it say at what resistance it is at when producing 190 x 2 @ .5 % ? probably 2 ohms ( I hope ). You can bridge a 4 channel amp by using just the (+) of channel one and the (-) of channel two and (+) of channel 3 and the (-) of channel 4 to produce a bridged connection. If you have a DVC subwoofer you can run them in parallel and drop the resistance to a 2 ohm load and therefore the amp will produce more power and more effieciently as well. Hope I answered your question right, and if not please post what you wanted exactly.

Those specs above on that Clarion APX400.4 amp is the best I can do... yea, I didn't know the resistance for the bridged power the specs were talking about, so I couldn't tell him whether or not to run the Fosgate XLC subs (4 ohms, SVC, 200W RMS) off a cheapy 2 channel American Pro amplifier (140W @ 2 ohms), or run the two subs off the Clarion amplifier (once the 4 channels were bridged into 2).

I was hoping that the Clarion could power the subs, but I didn't know the resistance for the 2 channel... its a long shot... but the American Pro amp was going into protection mode when we hooked it up, so the next idea was to use his 4 channel Clarion...

When you hooked up the American Pro amp in 4 ohm bridged.... did it go into protection mode ? try this configuration with the subs to run from the American Pro amp in a 4 ohms bridged and the RF XLC in a 4 ohm series configuration ( + to + and - to - on the subs ).

The 190 watts x 2 rating is @ 4 ohms 14.4 volts.The Clarion amp is a pretty good one but after using & playing around with the Clarion amps in the shop & in customers cars I have found that the crossover on the amps are not very clean sounding(well at least not to my well used ears anyway)but should do the job of powering the RF's just fine.
