I recently installed a Direststart CS423 remoter starter in a 2001 Chevy Silverado 2500HD.  The problem I have is that when I remote start the factory securiy warning comes on and if I try to drive the truck it doesn't shift out of third.  The only way I can get it to shift right is by turning off the remote starter, turning off the truck, opening the door and restarting the truck.  Does this mean that I have something hooked up wrong with the bypass module?  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You probably did not power up your 2 nd ignition wire ( SECOND IGNITION----------white -------ignition harness ) or it is not powering up the second ignition wire properly. If you used the RED / WHITE wire on the J2 harness without a relay, try using a relay because the load of this wire exceeds 6 amps. As far as the SECURITY LIGHT is concerned, you probably bypassed the Passlock right, but it's just outside the tolerance that will still allow the truck to start, but you get a warning from the BCM. Try to get a closer value on the resistors and post your results.

Thanks Jeff,  I will try that and let you know how it works.
