so anyways, ive been using a rockford 500a2 punch amplifier, real old, ive pounded the shhh out of it for 3 years and now its finally starting to clip and cut out. mainly i use it to power my 2 10" rockford punch DVC subs, but sometimes use it on my rockford 15" HX2. i want to buy a new 2 channel amp that is tough as nails like this last one, but im not exactly sure what companies are making good amps these days. i hate threads where ppl ask "what brand of this and that should i buy?" i would like something close to the rated 500 watts RMS @ 2 ohms like the punch amp, but im open to any suggestions you ppl have. i know there are alot of companies out there, ive been looking at alpine, audiobahn, xtant,  concept and rockford. but would like sum input from everyone on what amps they personally like and have had experience with, thanks for any replies

What's you price range?  The amp brands you've listed are all over the map.

If you like that Rockford amp so much i would get it fixed. Rockford is having a company called Landis do all there refurb work for them, you can call Rockford to get the number. I have had an old 225.2 done from them and it works great now. It cost me $125 bucks to get it refurbished but the amp has alot of sentimental value so price was really not an issue.
Just a thought anyway.

On the high end, JL is a great amp, tough, and clean sound. On the lower end, you can get a lot of play time out of MTX.  Alpine is a great amp, but in my experience, they are a bit touchy, and might not put up with a constant hammering day after day.  Rockford doesn't build 'em like yours anymore, but that refurb job ain't a bad idea either.
Sony Mp3 HU, Dig/Aud 300Wts
(1) 12"sony sub.. Aint much, but it looks good, and thumps like a rabbit on Viagra!

I just bought one of these, there is one left on ebay.  Just another idea.  Mine hasn't even shown up yet but I am pretty confident in my decision.  I was looking for the same power output as you are and I too used to be a rockford guy also.
