Newbie question about multimeter

Ok, Maybe something stupid i'm doing, but stevdart told me how to use the ohms law with voltage to calculate watts and set gain.  My meter is ananlog but is multi and when I set it to 50volts scale and connect it to the sub speaker terminals and my needle jumps negative or backwards.  I changed the polarity or *continuity* and same thing happened!  According to the equation if I want to acheive 150 watts RMS at 4Ohms, I should be putting out 24.49 volts, nothing about negative?  Help.  Can this only be achieved with a digital meter?  Thanks guys!

Should be set to AC volts to read an amplifier output.
