why are monitors not clear?

What they are saying is that the monitors are hooked up correctly (if they turn on) but, you are going to need a "Video Amplifier" go to your local car audio supply or store and ask for one. They are only 20 bucks or so like Chungo said. You will have to supply a (+) and (-) to it but other than that all you do is connect the Video output (yellow RCA) from your DVD source to the "input" on the video amplifier, then you can probably do the same thing (Strip the RCAs and wire them to your monitors) like you have them now. I don't know for sure though...every monitor I have ever messed with has had a video input (and power/negative).
