I recently had my sub amp tuned by a "very experienced" installer. The sound is great, but he utilized the bass boost on the amp (its at about 9db). I have read posts by dyohn and other experts that say not to utilize the bassboost...why is it not recommended?

I wrote a response to that topic the other day in this thread.  And here are search results on the subject that will offer more opinion.
Build the box so that it performs well in the worst case scenario and, in return, it will reward you at all times.
