I purchased an 81 Corvette recently.  It appears to have had (at one time) a car alarm installed.  The alarm is still there, but disconnected.  The black box says "Viper - Auto Security Systems - Model 600".

I have read about the HF and the ESP, and downloaded the installation manuals.  Unfortunately mine does not appear to be either of these models.  Both reference a Primary Harness 12-pin connector, which is the same thing printed on the back of the black box I have, with the exception of position 4... those both say "BLACK/ white"...mine says "gray".  For the Relay Harness, the HF and the ESP show an 8-pin connector.  Mine shows 6 pins (printed on the back) in the following order...a-brown, b-violet, c-blue, d-white, e-violet, f-green.

Does anyone know anything about what I have?  And more importantly, if it's even worth messing with?

Thanks in advance, any advice will be appreciated.

The alarm you have is before the HF and the ESP, even before the 300+. Finding remotes wont be too easy. All viper brains have a lifetime warranty, if you have a good friend that works at a viper dealer, you might be able to get them to do a warrante exchange for a newer model. If you do still have the remotes and the alarm still works, it will probably keep working for a long time, don't wory about messing with it.
