My wife drives a mitsubishi galant with the Infinity factory stereo system. I've read that this has a factory separate amplifier. Well the cd player wont' load up anymore, so I want to put the factory stereo out of my acura (sittin in the closet for 2 years) into the Galant. So here's what I've done so far, I bought a Factory OEM radio plug for my acura unit, and I got a wireing harness for the galant, as if I were wireing a aftermarket deck in. Ok, I have what I need i think right???? Only I've found places like http://www.cardomain.com/item/PERMITAH?vq_id=none that have this little interface. Does this only apply if I'm using an aftermarket deck??? The Mitsubishi wireing harness has speaker wires, so wire would I need an interface with RCA's? It's seems like the speaker wires coming off the factory deck are supplying signal to the factory amp?? Am I crazy??

I've never used that piece, but it sure looks like it'd make for a lot less work to add an aftermarket headunit. If you want to use that with your Acura headunit, you'll need to step the signal down first with a couple LOC's. Then, plug the adapters into those, and the other end into the factory DIN connector.

if the galant infinity system is like the eclipses, the factory amp is under the pass seat, just just new speaker wire from the deck to the fact amp and catch all the outputs to each speaker there....forget about that factory amp garbage.

I used to hate bypassing the amps in those cars. It wouldn't be that bad, but the amp has all the crossovers built in, so there's no caps on the tweets. The place I used to work would have us series the tweeters with the door speakers to get an 8-ohm load instead of paralleling them for a 2-ohm load (fry the head unit). The problem then is that the tweets are playing full pass (sounds like $%@^) and you have to fade it towards the front to match the volume front to rear. My take was to just lose the tweeters and wire the door speakers for a 4 ohm load. The boss didn't like that idea because he wanted the factory tweets to blow so he'd have an excuse to sell component speakers. Could you guess that I bumped heads a lot, and I'm glad I no longer work there any more?

I say if it's for the wife, just use the adapter and integrate the factory amp.

Another thing to note about the Integra unit is to make sure you have the code for the Theft system. Hope you have this code to unlock the CD player.
