Not a bad amp for what it's built for - look at the title - SPL.  If you're looking for great SQ, there are better options.  For the money it's not bad, you're under a dollar per watt.  Just remember you get what you pay for.

There really aren't such things as SQ amplifiers and SPL amplifiers. Yes, the signal coming out of the amplifier is of varying quality from brand to brand and price point to price point (not always, but sometimes). Some low-quality amps may introduce noise, etc. There's a reason why Xtant amps are much more expensive than a Crunch or Lanzar. But, for the most part, given amps with the same output power, subs play a MUCH larger role in SQ/SPL than amps. And for that matter, so do enclosures/boxes.

I couldn't disagree more.  There are HUGE differences between amps of different qualities, and noise level is one of the least important IMO.  How they handle music subtleties make a big difference, headroom, load handling, slew rate, damping, etc.  Give me an amp that focuses on quality before quantity anyday.  I do agree that it's more fruitful to focus on the speakers first, but don't overlook the amp's quality as a component in a good system.

The amp mentioned is a class D amp - fine for a sub or pure SPL, but definitely not an SQ amp.  Probably on par with Sony or entry level RF.  As long as you're not investing in a top-end system you'll be fine.

I should have prefaced my post by saying that refers to sub amps, or amps which are dealing with <100hz. At these low frequencies, the Class D vs. Class A/B quality difference isn't very relevant, though I agree that it's very relevant for a full-range amp (or at least one dealing with mids and highs). By "quality" of the output, I was referring to things like THD, etc, again, which aren't AS important for subs as they are for mids and highs. I'd rather have nice subs and a crappy amp than the other way around (given the same enclosure and amp output).
