Hello. Noob here with a few questions about putting a system in a Wrangler. I am trying to keep it looking as stock as possibel 'cuz its a Wrangler and security is an issue. I replaced the factory head unit with an Alpine rated at 18 w rms x 4. I will be installing 4 Polk db525s. I would like to power them with a decent 50 x 4. The factory sub is 6.5", and it would be cool to keep it in its enclosure. I know a JL 6.5" will fit, and the JL 6W0-8 at 8 ohms can handle 150w x1.

Questions:

Should I power the Polks off an amp, and not the headunit?

Will a 6.5" sub give decent quality bass (less boom/more music)?

Would a 5 channel amp like an Alpine MRV-F450 be a good choice to power everything?

I have no backseat, and I would like to put the amp(s) under the front seats. Space is REALLY limited. Does anyone make a small decent amp for a good price other than Alpine?

Thanks

Just wondering, where in this vehicle can you fit (4) 5 1/4 speakers? Aren't the dash speakers 4X6 ?

Bought some speaker adapters here:

The overhead pods are also 5 1/4".

those adapters are cool, gotta order some for my shop! wonder if metra makes something like that....anyway....if you can fit it.....it's a no brainer to power the speakers of a seperate amp, they will be MUCH happier and so will you. The alpine V series are a pretty good size for the power. I don't know much about 5 channels but as far as somewhat small 4 channels go, look at the mrp340 alpine, bang for the buck....a decent amp.   Also the older MTX thunder 404 is somewhat small and can put out a sold 55 rms a channel.

Thanks for the heads up on the MTX 404. That looks like a perfect size for a 4 channel. Anyone have recommendations on a small 1 or 2 channel for a sub? Looking for 7" x 8" or smaller. Also, should I jump up in size to an 8" sub? The Polk/MOMO MM2084 looks pretty sweet and I like the idea of putting Polks all around. It can handle 30 - 200 w RMS. Thanks

The Xtant 1.1 will be a perfect for for you. Super small but packed full of power.

Thanks for the info. Stupid question: Do I want to bolt these to the tub under the seats, or mount them (suspended) to the seat frames? I have no fabrication equipment or experience.

You can just screw them down under the seats.  Double check both sides before putting any screws through the floor- to make sure you won't hit anything (gas tank, brake lines, etc.).  Also, be sure you have sufficient space for the amps to breathe properly/dissipate heat.

My ex once told me I have a perfect face for radio.
