just leave the factory alarm alone. just use the factory arm/disram wires.

im not saying this is what you should do, but here is what i did:

When i bought the jeep (94 Grand Laredo) it had a non-factory installed factory alarm. The wires were a complete nightmare. You couldnt even replace the brake switch bc there was just a mass of random wires. So i found the 2 starter wires, and completely removed the factory alarm and tossed it in the trash. Everything works great, and when i installed my python 881xp, i made sure to make everything a lot neater.

Hi,

I just bought a used 94 cherokee laredo and it works pretty good but the guy we bought it from didn't give us the owners manual and when I locked it up last night I hit the lock button on the drivers side  and then shut the door and then I noticed I had left a window open so I went to open it and put the key in the drivers side door and the security system went off which is the only way I know that it has a security system.  Well anyways it has a controller on the keys but it's really crappy and it dosen't work, so can someone tell me about this security system and how the heck I can turn It off so I can acctually open the door and have it not go off, and how to turn it off when it does go off.  any help would be greatly appreciated.

well it looks as if the person bought a factory alarm, but didnt have it installed by the factory. If it was installed by the factory, then it was a really crappy job.

where is the factory alarm? I am in the process of installing a keyless entry in a 93 grand cherokee limited. becuase I don't have the remotes, and they are more than I can spend to replace. I have an aftermarket system that I took out of my brothers volvo after he totalled it...

To permanently disarm teh OEM security system all you have to do is ground the purple / YELLOW wire located at the driver kick panel in a black plug.
