From my personal experience, a red LED will not be as bright as a blue LED.  It has something to do with the way the diode inside is made to emit it's color---blue and white are typically the brightest, and red and orange tend to be dimmer.  I have installed many different alarm systems, as well as added raw LED's to installs for a wide variety of applications, but have never seen a red LED that will come close in overall brightness and range of visibility as the blue ones.  The red LED that accompanies 2002-up Clifford systems is about the brightest I have seen, and it is a little larger than most, at 13/64" in diameter (once you remove the red plastic cover) as opposed to standard red LED's that are 1/8".  I doubt you'll find much online or otherwise different from what comes with alarms, since most all LED's are made by just a couple of different manufacturers.

Here you go.

http://www.superbrightleds.com/leds.htm
Look for the highest luminous intensity or mcd. They have a red one that is 12000mcd, but the led itself is clear like the one on your prestige unit. The ones on the Prestige units are 5mm and the ones on DEI units are 3mm. You can use either one it's up to you.
Here are some other places you can get them.
