Hi,
We installed a Compustar 2W900FMAS in a 98 Cavalier. The alarm and everything works fine.
We are using a PL2003. After the install the car would start with the key than shut off after about 3-5 seconds and the antitheft light would come on. So we removed the brain and the bypass module and the car worked like normal.
We then put the brain back in and it started fine, then we put the bypass back and it did the same thing.
We are assuming that it is a bypass issue. It is Passlock 1 , atleats thats what the sheet says
Any ideas?
Do we need to hook up the bulb test wire? Never done a Passlock 1 we did tons of Passlock 2
Thanks

If you don't hook up the bulb test wire, the Passlock 1 system will not be bypassed properly. The bulb test wire is BLACK in the harness along with the constant wires.

If you have done several PassLock II systems, I am assuming that your BLACK / YELLOW, Yellow, and Black wires are connected properly to the resistance and ground reference wires.  The bulb check is definitely black and it will be separate from the other PassLock wires.  It will change state to GROUND while cranking with the key.  Don't forget to connect the violet wire on the 555-L to the violet starter relay input in the ribbon cable, as this is how the module knows when to output GROUND to the bulb check wire.

Doing one Passlock I is equivalent to doing 100 Passlock II. Why don’t you try this method instead?
2 relays and a matching resistor will do the trick.
Be careful whose advice you buy, but be patient with those who supply it.Problems with Passlock -- posted image.

How did you hook up the bulb test wire ? There are 2 ( maybe 3 BLACK wires in the harness ) . Make sure you get the right one.

it is the small black wire that is in the same connector as the small green wire. probably didn't  hook up the purple wire to the negative starter output wire. remember guys he is installing Compustar not DEI. he does not have a ribbon harness, he has internal relays.
under promise and overdeliver
