hi all i bought a escort mk7 uk model tailgate which has a boot pop motor on,and i also bought a boot switch that goes with it.the motor in the boot is a single wire i have tested with a 12 v supply of which it open the tailgate now the boot switch has 2 earths 1 ilumination wire this carries the 12 v suply  when ignition is on and 1 wire that when the button is pushed making contact,how do i from this one wire get it to pop the boot as it does not carry any power.

please help

hopefully it came with some kind of instructions.  the wire use to activate your boot pop( we call it a trunk release here in the US) is activated either by a positive or negative polarity. the ones we carry here in our shop intails two items, the trunk release motor and a switch for it. on the trunk release motor, there are the positive post and the negative post. first we ground the negative post and run wire for the positive post to the switch up front.

now the switch has two wires comming from it, one side goes to the wire that we just ran and the other one goes to a fused 12v connection. now if you want to also hook this up to an alarm, you will need a relay(hook it up to have a positive output) and tie it  with the wire going to the motor ;)
