I drive a pug 106 and have a full pioneer system...which was working fine untill suddenly the audio cut...nothing. The head unit still operates as normal but as if on mute. I swapped the head set with a panasonic one which works fine...but i want my pioneer back. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!!

I would say bring it back in for warranty. If you used the internal amplifier to power your speaker's the problem may be that the internal speaker leads are burned out. This is caused when any one of the (+) and (-) leads on the speaker's touch each other even for a split second. Not trying to criticize your installation, but if you didn't wrap  the connection behind the stereo well enough, over time a strand might have poked into another connection and caused this problem.

If you used an amplifier set up, check for the same problem but on the RCA's. If you have the 4700 model, there should still be some warranty left on it and you can try taking it back to the Pioneer dealer that you bought it from.

Could well be the problem there mate ( thanks for the quick reply ). Thing is I have the warranty still…but I didn’t buy the stereo off a pioneer dealer..it is however still under warranty. If it is the problem you suggested would it be a costly job to get this fixed by a car audio company??

Here is Canada the cost for this repair is about $ 100 - $ 125 Canadian to get fixed by a stereo shop. They have to replace some resistors and replace the burned out leads.

Sorry, guys did't pay attention to where he was located. United Radio is in New York.

Just  a thought: Could your radio be set to mute or the mute wire possibly be touching another? I had a pioneer once that did this I powered it off  and went into settings and changed from mute to att then the volume was low so I then rewired it and everything was fine.

This was an original thought as the wire isnt properly insulated all the way across the top…how did you get into the settings with the head unit turned off?

Soucre the unit off and then hold down the func or aud button for several seconds. I believe it is the func button or on the 4700 I think it actually says function and the button has an f on it. right side of the radio next to the tuner knob. this is the same button you use to turn on the aux feature and set clock.
