I am trying to decide on an amp to power four Polk db525's. They are rated for 45 w RMS. The 404 puts out 50 w RMS while the 4244 puts out the recommended 45 w RMS. I am after sound quality in an open air vehicle. Which one would you pick, and is it okay to exceed the recommended wattage with a good amp like an MTX?

Thanks

That tiny amount of overpowering won't really make a difference, I'd go ahead and get whichever is cheaper myself. Just make sure to set gains correctly.

As far as the gains go, leave them flat, or don't turn them up to 11?
