BMW factory security connector

BMW 3, 5 and 7 series for 1992 to 1998 have a pre-wired factory security connector that can be useful when adding

after-market accessories such as alarms and keyless entry systems. On the 3 series this connector can be found behind

the glovebox near the center console. On the 5 series it can be found either in the same location as the 3 series, or

under the back seat near the battery. On the 7 series this connector can be found near the brake pedal under the

passenger side dash. The layout for this connector is as follows:

PIN FUNCTION WIRE COLOR POLARITY

1. 12 Volts constant RED / gray +

2. Ignition PURPLE / white –

3. Ground Brown -

4. Drivers door trigger BROWN / gray -

5. Passenger door trigger BROWN / blue -

6. Rear door trigger BROWN / purple -

7. Horn trigger BLACK/ blue +

8. NOT USED

9. Lock trigger* WHITE/ red +

10. Unlock trigger* Blue/red +

11. Trunk trigger BROWN / white -

12. NOT USED

* These wires must be tested with all the doors closed or the doorlocks will not respond.
