hello, i have a customer that wants a cd player and a pair of 6x9's installed in the doors....here's my first question, the cd player...i really don't feel like cutting the original radio peice (sure it might not be worth much...but it's still the original peice)  can i remove that and just clean out the hole to fit the new cd player or is there a dash kit of some kind to make it look nice?

and the doors..he wants 6x9's...location isn't going to be the greatest because they'll be firing into the seats...but it's where he wants them and the doors open ehind that spot...i'm wondering if anyone has put speakers in the doors and what kind of problems were involved...looks fairly straight forward with some cutting of the dash and doors  to make the proper hole...but i'd like to know for sure beofr i start.

Make sure the window doesn't hit the magnet when rolled down. You may need spacers.
If you don't want to cut for the radio, offer an under dash install with a small mdf, carpeted enclosure.

Cutting that dash is a real b*tch but it can be done. Compressed air saw works the best. Pull the plastic panel off the door, I don't think the window goes below it. If you are planing to cut the steel below it you should have no problem with depth. If I remember right there might be some issues with grill height being taller then that steel space. Last , the front part of that steelpanel is double plate, very hard to cut and put screws thru. Try to avoid it.

We used to run old Ford F series work trucks, problem we found with the speakers in the doors was the hollow sound and the rattle of the window mechanism.  Best of luck with the install, the dash on those trucks is built like a bumper.

well..i got the deck installed today...took longer then expceted because my main grinder died and i was left my little dremel and useless cutting wheels  (sunday and nothings open) but the customer wanted the original trim ring for the looks and that's what he got, he loves it, he's really happy with it...i feel i did a good job on it, i now know something i'd do different but i'll just keep that in my mind for the next 69 ford f250 to come my way 69 ford f250 - Last Post -- posted image.   well here's the <a http://www.cardomain.com/ride/1034083/1 link</a>  let me know what you guys think.

Looks good! A job that you feel confident about can often times be the best one.
