Hey all,

Can someone give me the location/color of the tach wire on a 2001 4x4 GMC 2500 HD Automatic with 8.1 gas motor? The info I have covers all motors up to 6.0.

I beleive if you'll pull the dash cluster out, there should be a white wire on the back to use for tach.

You know I am more than a little dissapointed in this site and the wiring color cd that I bought from the 12 resource. I paid twenty bucks for this cd and it does not tell me where or what color the tach wire is for the truck I have been asking about in this posting. I have donated time to this site helping people and now I can't get a simple location and color for a tach wire.

Tach Signal

WHITE

FOR THE V-8 AT THE P.C.M. *

* Power Control Module Located At The Left Front Of The Engine Compartment Pin 10 of the 80 pin connector. WHITE-For The V-6 At The Coil On Top Of The Engine.

Just a Note:

I have 8 different sources, not to mention 2 CD DATA Disc's and I still can't get ALL Info that I need...............

I really think this site is the BEST on the Internet for ALL, Installers & Week-end Warriors. I'm sure if there was a better place, this site would have crashed a long time ago...............

beats going into the engine and messing around there. ive done about 10 of those style suburbans, sierras, ect... trucks since the month started. they are pretty simple to do, all of the wires are right under the dash after two 7mm screws and four 10mm nuts. the locks and lights can be snagged at the BCM right under the steering wheel and the brake wire is right there too on the brake switch.
