What purpose does using a t-harness serve.Is it just for the starter kill?

I believe it allows you to unplug the factory ignition harness and put it in between the existing harness and the ignition plug. It has the important remote start wires coming out of it so that you can tap your high current connections in without disturbing the original wires by cutting and splicing/soldering into them. Might be a good idea if you are leasing and don't want to be blamed for messing with the wires. If it's your own vehicle it could save a little time but soldering is the way to go. Most people install a remote starter once and don't have the need to remove it after.

Hey when you guys solder splice do you make a hole by seperating the wires in the wire you are splicing into and then just send the wire from the remote start through and solder it up or what? Also how do you guys cover that up just electric tape? I've been thinking of taking off the t taps and soldering but don't know how I should do it.

Ty I usually use the method shown on page 4-5 of this install manual under "MAKING CONNECTIONS" for my high current connections and then solder it before I tape it. This method makes such a good connection that even if you don't have solder it's ten times better than T-taps.
