Im having a Discussion on another forum regarding the installation of a amp. a member asked for advice on installation and i put up a generic "How to" (not taking in to account of size of power cable etc

another member qouted me saying

"do not run the RCA's with the power cable as this will cause interference" and i sujested that the RCA's to be run along the other side of the car (as Far away as possible).

he reconed that this is a myth and running RCA's with the power cable is ok.

im from the school of thought that you never run RCA's with the power cable. is this correct? or am i wrong?

you are correct, it's a bad idea. "far away as possible" isn't really a big deal, but, not running them along the same place is good. It wouldn't hurt to run them down the center if the power was on one side.

It is not a myth, however it does not always cause problems either. The recommended method for any audio system setup is to separate the power and signal carriers as much as possible and when they do have to cross, to cross them at a 90 degree angle in order to minimize induction. It is often more preventative than anything, but better to set up your system properly with an eye toward avoiding possible problems than to spend time, money and headache energy fixing them later.
