I got a compustar 2w900FMS today and on the brain it had a sticker labeled "AUTOMATIC" in bright red.
Then on the back of the brain, where it shows you how to "cut" the wire for manual transmission vehicles, it has a sticker placed over it. It definatly looks like the stickers were placed on there from the factory.
Are US models no longer being allowed to be installed in manual transmission vehicles?

This is what they are doing for this year. They are sending out units PRE-CUT for AUTOMATIC ONLY vehicles and leaving the jumper wire uncut for the manual vehicles.

Bobk, just did a couple of searches and didn't come up with exactly what you were talking about. If you have a link it would be appreciated.

Not recommended to do this. Just make suer you buy the manual ready versions. It's not any more money for the manual safe versions.

The difference is that one has the jumper cut and the other doesn't. I Canada that is the only difference and the red sticker for AUTOMATIC or MANUAL. Same 4200 CPU as before.

Thank you velicity and xstreme for answering my question.

My question was not should you or shouldn't you use a manual transmission remote starter, my question was why was the change, and what can be done about the compustars.

My next question is do they sell a manual version in the US still or is it only in canada?

You can call up a Compustar dealer or the manufacturer themselves and ask. I don'yt know if they like to answer emails or not, but my distributor told me about this change in Canada but it's only to select dealers that they are doing this to. I still get my units the same as the last couple of years.
