I been planning to change the deck on my 1999 VW Beetle but now that I got the new deck I'm having trouble taking the old deck out. does any one know how these come out. please let me know. I was hoping I could do this job myself. so i could really use some help.

You need a set of "German car removal keys". The small slots on the bottom corners of the stock stereo need a release key in each one. Metra part # 86-9001. Then you will need a dash kit Metra 99-9008. If you take off the panel below the radio to access the wire harness mark the three plugs because they are identicle and will plug back in to the wrong places. Make sure not to use the thin constant wire, it is part of the onboard diognostics and will screw up anyone trying to service the car.
There is no such thing as free installation!
