I need some help figuring out what I should do for a navigation/dvd system.

Is it possible to control a nav unit with a stand alone lcd touch screen.?

Is it possible to have nav on one lcd and dvd or audio controls on another?

Do any of the nav systems (ie. alpine, kenwood) allow full function while moving?

Just fishing for ideas...?

The kenwoods do allow everthing

Thanks for the feedback on the KW. I've had my eye on the KW flipups for a while. Any idea if you could operate the nav while playing a dvd on a second LCD? I thing the KW has the remote nav drive -- I wonder if dvds could be played either in the head unit or in a dvd changer???

New question, does anyone make a car stereo with blue tooth hands free phone built in?

theres always the map dvd in the nav unit so lets say you had a dvd in the headunit or a changer with no other tvs you could set a route if needed and switch the video back and forth from dvd to nav or just leave it on dvd and it will still give you voice guidance. or iif you had another lcd you could watch a dvd or game tv or whate ever on that and have the nav on the headunit.

The Kenwood Nav unit is the KNA-4100 and this is a seperate DVD drive than the head unit(mine is mounted in my trunk). I have the double din Kenwood head unit with a visor monitor and I use the head unit to play movies on the visor while it displays the moving map. I also have a backup camera that I bought on ebay for $60. It works great.

sounds like a great setup.

Are you able to use all the nav functions while moving? If so, what do you have to do to bypass the safety feature?

did you do the install, how difficult is it???

I did the installation myself, it was not too bad with the Metra double din adapter and harness. To allow all the functions, tie the parking brake sensor to ground. I have pictures on www.corral.net

hey mc... i have the iva-d310.. wiring for the parking break shhh u need to buy a trigger module from PAC. very very simple to instal. as for the stand alone montior and all that shhh.. i believe u can do that with alpine. PM for more help or questions..
