does anyone know if a subwoofer box will fit behind the seat in a 98 chevy truck extended cab? the space behind the rear bench seat looks very small. thanks.

you might be able to fit 6x9s in pre fab boxes.  they are relatively small and can pack a good punch with a good amp.
That's my opinion. Take it, leave it, or correct me.

A self powered bass tube might be your solution. I hate these things but they sound decent in the trucks.

do you think they would fit under the seat? i was looking at a bazooka tube at circuit city. they have a 100 watt amplified tube with 8 inck woofer for about $140. would rather have a separate woofer and amp but dont really see a good place to put the sub.

Jl makes two differant " stealth boxes" for that truck. One is a single 10 the other is dual 10s. A little pricey, but they fit perfectly and save you the expense of designing and building the box.

Q Logic makes a sealed box to fit under the rear bench seat of your truck - I have a 96 extended cab and am probably going to buy one for my truck. The box will hold a 10" driver with a maximum driver mounting depth of 5 7/8". They also make a box for the passenger side of the rear seat if you wanted a pair of 10's - you would have to remove the factory jack and holder to make room for the box.
I saw one at a local shop for $250 and it looked like it was pretty well constructed but www.SoundDomain.com has the same thing for $170. The box has an ABS trim panel on the front edge that is colored to match the interior.

Forgot to say that on CarDomain's site, they state the box is made from ABS plastic but that must be a mis-print as Q Logic states on their site that the unit is made from 100% 5/8" MDF enclosure construction and 3/4" MDF panel for the driver mounting panel with Dado groove and miter joint design for ultimate strength.
Here's the Q Logic site - http://www.qlogic.ws/2003/home/ - select Chevrolet under Q customs. The model# for the 96-98 extended cab is QL-C1GMX110DA for the drivers side and QL-C1GMX110PA for the passengers side.
