Hi.  A few weeks ago we did an amp install with components in a Chevy astro van.  All the Fm stations are fine, no engine noise.  A couple of days ago the customer comes back and tells us he only gets engine noise in his am stations.  Has anyone ever had that problem?  What do I do to fix it?  Thanks in advance for the help.

It's usually caused by a bad antenna ground, either where it connects to the radio or where the antenna mounts to the vehicle.  Also, many GM vehicles require an antenna adapter, and if this is not installed correctly the ground can be disrupted.

Almost every GM truck, especially the V-6s, have this problem. If it's on all AM stations check that the antenna has a good ground. If it's just on the weak AM stations, he must do a tune up with resistor spark plugs and shielded plug wires.
There is no such thing as free installation!
