Using 2 amps on 1 woofer

This is the first time I've ever seen this. Just got in my first Total Audio knuckle dragger 1000 watt X 1 D block amps. According to them you can hook up 2 of these to a single sub. The pos of one amp goes to the pos on the sub, the neg of thr other amp goes to the neg on the sub and the unused pos and neg on the amps are connected to each other in what looks like a quasi series set up. Plus there's a phone jack connector that makes all the settings in the slave amp match the settings of the amp with the RCAs in it. Technicle at Total claims 2200 watts RMS @ 2 ohms. It seems in this set up, one amp pushes and the other pulls. Has anyone ever heard of this?There is no such thing as free installation!

Yea, it's generally called "strapping."  One amp acts as a master the other as a slave.  There are a few amps that can do this, but they have to be specially designed for it.Support the12volt.com
