2002 cavailer 5spd

The last one I had, artic start, I installed under the dash near the steering column.  That was last year; in about 2 months the power wires turned flakey white.  Some one on the board told me this was due to moisture.  I just ordered a Ultra Start, where can I mountit to keep it from having the same problem as the Artic Start?

Also, I am real worried about something malfunctioning with the unit, having the car start in gear and take off down the street.  I bought a pole that depresses the clutch, so I am not wiring the clutch switch.  Am I paranoid?

Moisture? Those white wires turned flakey white? Doesn't sound like moisture..it sounds like corrision from your connections.

Haha, ok screw the pole.  It is a system designed specifically for a manual transmission.  What about a place to mount the thing?

About it being my connections, it didn’t' have anything to with that.  The wires are white and flakey inside the connector to the brain.  I didn't touch that, just plugged it in.

Thanks for laughing WITH US....not many kids do, they don't take our safety seriouslymounting remote start brain, where? - Last Post -- posted image. Like bobk was kinda sayin, figure out thats its either a moister problem or not. Other things would show the same type of discoloration.  Does the car have a sunroof? could be a clogged drain tube. (factory or aftermarket) Get a new front windshield lately...? If theres nothin else wet.....your problem is most likely NOT water.

When I do an install, the first thing I do is find an easy access spot for the brain, this car is really tight. you got some room behind the drivers kick, and up by the keyless module. Up kind a behind the fuse box.

Your clutch is PURPLE / white POS(+) at the clutch switch. That wire needs a start signal

Thanks guys, I appreciate the information.

I'll be checking for water everywhere, and the 2 places KarTuneMan recomends mounting it.
