Get a tax id number first so you can resell and get dealer accounts. After this, you can start contacting various wholesaler's near you to purchase installation supplies & equipment for sale. You will learn where to and not to go for certain things but it is up to you to do this because there are no two shops that will be alike.
Your needs and someone else's will be totally different so you may have to do some trial and error with supplier's. We offer wholesale programs to new dealer's here and it's all set up in levels.

Your better move is to get hired at a shop first, learn the ins and outs of how a install business operates. You will also start building bridges in the industry with the suppliers. After a couple of years of paying attention to how a business operates and where stuff comes from, that is when to start exploring how to open your own business. As your post sits right now, unless you have big time $$$$ to support you, you are doomed to fail. It took me a full 10 years before I went out on my own, 10 years later I still continue to learn new things.

nxtgenaud, another option is to buy into a existing business like Rob has and the person can show you the ins and outs. A successful business is only that because of hard work and wise decisions.

Jeff hit it bang on. Getting lines to retail when you have no experience is impossible and is doomed to fail. Next thing is that even if you manage to secure the lines, you need people to buy from you. A established business like mine you can walk right into, lines are in place, customers are in place and with your hard work, you too can make a sucessful shop operate as well.
