Does your radio have 2 holes on each side, or 1 slot on each side?  if so you will need special removal tools, just ask a shop to remove it for $5 or something.

haha, $5-$10 is all my shop charged to just stick the removal tool in and pull.  Thats a dam good profit since the tools barely cost that much.

youngone; I'm not sure your approach will work; most shops will hold your car until payment or satisfactory arrangements have been made, even for a small amount. Additionally, the shops are really there to make money, that's business, but I don't usually charge for something that takes 30 sec to do, such as pulling out a VW/Audi or a Ford HU. Maybe that customer will be back after they attempt the install, when I can charge the ridiculous labor charges to sort out the hack job 1994 audi 90 quattro CS, remove HU? -- posted image.

We usually trade Tim Horton's for quick pull decks like FOrd and VW/Audi........
It just isn't worth charging for it, but many customers insist....   coffee is a good trading item around here (so are cigarettes)
