So I am doing my first composite project and I have 10 lbs of ultra thick 32oz fiberglass mat. I beleive they use it for boat hulls. I dont have alot of it So I was wondering if 1 or 2 layers of it reinforced by wood where needed would work. I would also put a coat of marglass/duraglass on the outside to support it.
I would rather not go out and buy some real thin stuff and use a bunbch of layers if I can use whats in front of me.
Its going in my frunk, I have a 1988 mr2 and Im going to install two RXT2 12" triangular subs. The enclosure will Be sealed. The spare tire is removed and I have plenty of room.
I intend to tape the bottom of the frunk and lay fiberglass to mold into the bottom of the frunk. Then Ill remove that shell and using some wood and fleece build the top.
I know using such thcik mat is unusual and probably with reason but will it work?

you are going to have to use a huge quantity of resin to get it to go through the mat. and i could case air bubbles because of it not being abele to go through the mat. i really dont no what will acually happen gust try it on something to see if it will work before you use it on the trunk. gust try it 10lbs of 32 oz. biaxial cloth -- posted image.
