1.  Has anyone mounted an XM antenna to the bumper inside the bodywork?

2.  Has anyone mounted a through-glass type antenna?

Any problems with reception on either?

XM antenna has to have a clear, unobstructed view of the sky.. I have put on the glass mount antennas and they only thing I have to say about them is that they are just plain ugly.. the Terk Roof mount is out most popular model..

i would agree..the glass mount antenna is not asthetically pleasing, plus any curvature in the glass will not allow the adhesive tape to set properly...(it will fall off eventually ) however the roof mount antennas provide many installation options...i've installed them on the front cowl of hard body jeeps just before the hood...on the left and right sides of cargo vans (above the side doors),on the rear deck of any vehicles, and of course the trunk lid and just forward of the rear window on the roof...these installations all receive a proper signal.......

I have found when I put in my XM antenna that it worked fine when I just put it on the rear deck of my car.  Best Buy, where I bought the radio at said that they have put the antenna there on a lot of cars.

Hey Snoman,

A little off the subject but 3M should think about having some of that installed into homes here in Florida for those nasty hurricanes that we get!XM Antenna Location - Last Post -- posted image.

I have the through glass antenna and have had no problems. I think where people are having the problems with the glass antenna is because they are using the treks glass antenna. I have the one made by Antenna Specialist. It uses double sided tape but also uses silcone to keep to the glass. If you are looking for an easy install that works great I highly recomend this antenna. Here are some pics of the antenna on my truck.

Great.  Thanks to all.

I like the idea of placing the antenna on the dash.  Its a big dash.  Im not keen on a magnetic although on the roof of an Odyssey would be most inconspicuous.

The terk is more asthaetically (sp?) pleasing than the others but as mentioned above, the contours of the windows might prevent ideal placement.

Back to the drawing board...Hope I can catch that internet order......

I have a 3g eclipse gt, and I installed the small dome shaped Terk ant. in my dash beside my center  speaker and have had no problems at all

with it there. If I drive downtown where there are alot of really tall bldg's. then it fades out sometimes.  But that's only happened twice that I've noticed.
