2004 mustang W/mach factory

I built a new sub box and installed it today and also my front door speakers were sounding blowen so i bought a pair of pioneer 6x8 2 ways. It still has the factory mach head unit but now as your driving and you have the volume up you can hear a popping sound in the subs and mids and highs. Was thinking maybe my rca's. any info could help Thanks

I'm assuming you're using aftermarket amps to push your speakers.  If so, wire a 1.5k ohm resistor inline on the remote lead and call it good.  Ford uses a 5v turn on instead of 12v.

Yea i have a jl audio amp. also two i forgot to add also that when the volume is up it kinda sounds like ****. but if you fade it from front and back and side to side to just one speaker at a time its sounds alot better. Im puzzled by this install ive done a few and never had soo many problems.

sounds like you have a speaker or two out of phase; check to make sure all the + and - terminals are hooked up the same on all speakers and subs.

oh and geepherder
wouldn't that resistor only apply in the reverse situation, i.e. an aftermaket HU with the factory amps?

Yeah, your absolutely right Hornshockey, what was I thinking- oh yeah, I wasn't.

It wouldn't matter if your speakers are 4 ohm, as long as your JL is pushing them, and not the factory amps.  If you're getting a popping sound in the speakers and sub, I'd check the gain adjustments.  But keep in mind that many Ford systems usually start distorting around 1/2 volume, sometimes even sooner.  That being said, consider the deck may be your weak link- garbage in, garbage out.

I just installed a new deck into a 1996 Mustang with the Mach system and everytime you start the car it makes a popping noise.  Would this be the instance where I would have to, as geepherder previously said, wire in the 1.5k ohm resistor?

Yes- if you didn't bypass the Mach amps, use the resistor and you'll be good.

I tried putting the resistor in and it still pops when starting it.  Is there any other reason?
