Short for thin film transistor, a type of LCD flat-panel display screen, in which each pixel is controlled by from one to four transistors. The TFT technology provides the best resolution of all the flat-panel techniques, but it is also the most expensive.

Yea there are like 2 different kinds of LCD screens. TFT is the best one to get because it's the newest technology.

OK, im looking at either getting the alpine 7" LCD or the alpine 5.8" LCD for my headrests. I already have the alpine IVA-D310 touch screen flip out head unit. On alpines site it says my head unit is TFT, but it doesnt really go into detail on whether or not the LCD monitors im looking at are TFT or not. Here are the links for the two different monitors in question. Does anybody know whether they are TFT or not?

here is the alpine 5.8"

and here is the alpine 7"

https://iweb.alpine-usa.com/pls/admn/item_info?p_item_name=TME-M770&p_category=100&p_subcategory=&p_main=30&p_more=y

are they TFT or not?
