Anyone know the wiring to arm / disarm factory alarm in 2000 Subaru Legacy GT Sedan?  I plan on adding remote starter and want to be able to use 1 remote to Arm /disarm, lock / unlock, start.  Factory unit has remote that unlock/locks and arm/disarms at same time - It has a very limited range, so an addon module may not do the trick for me....  Using key on door triggers alarm, have to use remote....   Any recommendations on Remote Starter module to use?  I bought a Design Tech 24727 but don't think that will do the trick although their tech support claims it will.  I have installed remote start/keyless entry in other vehicles with out alarm, or with passive alarm with no remote that is armed with door locking or unlocking with key.  I am electronics literate, need a little guidance or help on this one.  Thanks in advance! ROM

That's from DTI's site, it says you must use Factory remote to ARM/DISARM, they claim you can use the DTI remote, but can't provide the vehicle's Alarm ARM / Disarm wiring info.   Thanks for the info, but I'm still not sure how to connect this.

Rom,

Subaru doesn't technically have a factory security system.  It is a dealer installed unit - here in Canada, they are manufactured by G.I.T. Security, who also makes the Power Start remote starters as well as Auto Start, and quite a few other brands.  You will not actually find a disarm wire, but if you wish to install a starter/alasrm combo, then go to the security module on the drivers side of the steering column, and grab your wires from there if you choose.  You will have full acess to the brake wire, park lights, and door locks (neg. trip - they have the wiring codes on the back side of the unit - it is advisiable to unplug the main harness after hooking up the unit, unhooking the smaller harness will disable the drivers side lock) from there, as well as a great place to hide your unit above it and just back of the metal plate that you have to remove to gain full access to the wiring.  Have fun.

Garth
