Need advice on building a ported box

....that isn't quite how I'd put it but that summation is more or less correct. In most applications I would say the ported box has the 'advantage' ... if I were to use that word at all... generally speaking the ported enclosure will produce lower sound frequencies with less input power at high volumes... frequently with smaller drivers than a comparable sealed enclosure... But sealed enclosures offer a certain snare-drum-timbre that can, with the right woofer, provide prodigious jumps in sound quality for some music..
