Ok i'm looking to get 2 12" subs for my 99' escort.
I was going to get the Alpine Type R but i've been looking at the Image Dynamics IDQ12 D2 v.2. I'm looking for a good sounding sub that will sound good with the type of music i listen to. I listen to mostly Rock, Metal, Techno and some Reggae. I want it to get pretty loud, but sound good doing it. I'm planning on making a Fiberglass enclosure for them in my trunk.

Also...check the specs for boxes....the ID goes into a tiny little box...and I would think a little less cash as well?

I love the ID product for those exact reasons....and they do sound mighty fine.

Definatly the image dynamics, less space required, less power required to get loud, and they put more time into build quality and sound quality than alpine since the alpines are starting to take the audiobahn route slowly.....bastards.

I like them ID subs a lot. However quality control is in question with them. They often times come out of the box with issues. Either tinsel lead slap (easily fixed) or they blow really fast.

With that said, I would still get the ID's, just through an authorized dealer.
