I hit the wall with my alarm installation.  when I unlock the door with the remote my dome light is not coming on, but when lift the door handle the light comes on. The unit (magicar 8100) does not have a designated dome light supervision wire. The vehicle is a 95' Caravan, The trigger wire is the same for the doors and the dome light and I tapped in to that wire, but it just not working. Would  anybody be kind enough to explain to me how to wire up the unit so when I unlock the door the dome light comes on?

Thanks

Just because you have tied into the Door Trigger Wire does NOT mean you will automatically have the Dome Light come on.

If your Unit does NOT have Dome Light Supervision, then You could come off the UNLOCK wire with a Relay.  If your Vehicle has Dome lite Timer ( which you said, when you pull up on handle the Dome Light comes on ) then a Relay should be all you need.
Otherwise, you may need a Timer also

It did not work. The dome light still not coming on and now the driver side locks, but does not open with the remote. After disconnecting the wires driver door lock works again, but still no dome light. Is there anything else I can try to make this work?

Thanks again

Here's a better way to look at it. When you pull the handle it sends a negative pulse from that handle to the BCM. The BCM then gives a negative output to the yellow wire to keep the lights on for a minute or so. You need to simulate that pulse from the handle. Go to the drivers door harness and with a meter find a wire that has a negative everytime the handle is lifted.  You can make this easier by pulling the door panel and looking at which wires are coming from that area, thus narrowing it down. Once you find this wire it's just a matter of connecting this to your unlock wire, diode isolating it from the locks of coarse.
