actually i have a jbl 1200.1 but i let my freind borrow it and i was using his 600.1 until he bought his other amps. ya the gain on his amp was all the way up, could this have blown the sub. also im about to purchase a new amp for my subs. im wanting either the memphis 1500D or maybe even a kx1200.1 per each 12. is this too much ? thanks

Ive seen a Kicker KX1200 push 1500 rms so go with the Kicker. Memphis is also nice, just watch out with impedence loads. Id go with the Kicker though.

"i was playing it for like 30 mins pretty hard and then it just stopped playing". This is the reason that it blew. While the gain may have been set a little or a lot high and sending a clipped signal into the sub in the first place, it has nothing to do with the amount of power used. It has to do with heat. You did not allow the sub to cool down and something has let go. Heat is the #1 killer of subwoofers.
Top Secret, I can tell you but then my wife will kill me.
