I just installed a remote starter on a 2001 Kia sportage. I unplugged the knee airbag to get at the wires now the airbag light is flashing. Is there a way to reset this light without a trip to the dealer? I tried disconecting the battery for abut a half hour but it did not work. Thanks for any help.  Mike

usually when you plug the wire back in, it should get rid of the light

if you have already disconnected the battery with no luck, more thanlikely you will have to go to the dealer to get the code removed, unless you know someone with a code reader

never ever turn on the ignition when you have airbag wires unplugged.
let this be a lesson, you're vehicle needs a trip to the dealer.

You can usually rest the airbag light in most cars by disconnecting the battery.
If that doesn't work, leave the key in the on position and disconnect the battery. Then reconnect the battery withthe key on too. This should wrok. It should work too. I spelled it wrok to show how serious I am. Ha

05gt, Having the seat out will set the seatbelt light. Do you have side air bags as part of the seat, the Kia does If you do then the AIR BAG light will set.

there are side airbags in the car, I looked on the dash and it was the SRS light that was on when it was unplugged

under my passenger seat there are two plugs, one of the plugs was airbag stuff, and the other plug does everything else

Some brands of cars will reset next time key is turned on and no fault found, some have to be reset by the dealer.
