I am fairly good with a soldering gun and have a good knowledge in this area. But I am unsure of how to make LEDS scan. Flash is easy. I did a search in this catagory to find any past posts and came up empty. I have been looking on the net for awhile now with no luck. =[ this seems to be a good place to ask though. Thanks in advance for any help.

i know u can buy little kits that do it and they are on a circuit board, maybe take the leds out, run wires and mount them where u please

I built a flasher for a buddy's S10 a few years back. I used an Atmel 8bit microcontroller that I custom programmed. It has 5 I/O pins, I used three for outputs (LED), and 1 for a switch input. I coded five different patterns that could be selected by pressing the switch.

Simply flashing LEDs with a microcontroller is pretty simple to do, in fact, it was my first ever microcontroller project. There are quite a few Atmel AVR tutorials on the 'net, and it may be worth looking in to if you are electronically handy.

The beauty of the Atmel microcontroller is that you can buy the chip for $2, and you can build a programmer to program it from a LPT port for another $2. Very low start up fee to get in to.

scanner needs a special Integrated circuits, and a timer IC, they would be mounted so that the special IC counts from 1 to.. N (number of leds) and then when reaching N, starts counting down till 1. And repeat the program.

Its not an easy circuit, unless you know some electronic and logic theory
