i have 2 alpine type-e subs (older ones, only rated 600Wmax) in a ported box and i am looking to upgrade my amp from an older alpine 3568 -ch amp and im looking at buying an infinity 7541a amp.

is infinity any good?

infinity isnt bad. but thats a four channel amp. why not get a class D mono?  by the why when posting the watts never refer to max power ratings they mean zip. use rms ratings and match subs to amp.  like 300 rms amp to 300 watt rms subs.

so the subs are rated for 200w rms and they are bridged into 2ohms so am i looking for an amp that puts out 200w @2 ohm then or just 200w @ 4ohm?

but you say you have 2 subs right? and they are 200w rms. 200+200=400 so you need a 400w rms amp. at what ohm that depends on what you want. if you can wire them down to 2 ohm. get a rating the matches what you are looking for. wether it be 2 or 4  ohms
