How do LED tail-light clusters compare with the traditional incandescent bulbs?

do they have to produce more light to get the same effect?

i'd love to go with absolutely colorless tail light lens assemblies, but i need to know if the colored LED lighting is up to the task....

yes colored led's are up to the task.  led's respond quicker, shut down faster, last longer and no heat which could be a disadvantage in the winter.

actually, i was referring more to how many Lumens an LED 1157 bulb cluster outputs versus a standard 1157 incandescent bulb.

also, wondering how visibility might be affected during direct sunlight....

thanks!

leds look sweet in tail lights but , they draw less current so your signals will blink tweaker speed and maybe set off a dash light unless you get either some load resistors or a new flasher relay specifically for LED bulbs ...very worth it though,  im sure you have seen the honda civics with with pink altezza brake lights.. white led back up lights are really nifty too

as for visibility during the day they look fine , they have a more defined look to them then normal bulbs and flash much more precise.
