I put a Valet 561R into a 1995 Nissan Maxima. The tach learn worked just fine, but when the r/s is activated, it cranks the car and then shuts down the instant the car starts running.
Went into shutdown diagnostics to see what caused it, and the LED flashed "(+/-) input shutdown". In 200 DEI remote starts I've never seen this problem. I thought it might mean a connection on the + or - activation inputs, but that doesn't make sense since neither one is connected. The car also definitely does not have an immobilizer or anything of that sort.
Anyone - ideas?

what wire did you use for the tach? it might have provided a good signal for programing, but not the true tach signal.

it is the tach. had the same problem the other day .  Did you go to a injecter or the tach wire?  I normally go tot he injecter when i can get to one.  just use the color that doesnt repeat on every injecter.

Let me clarify my first post - all of DEI's remote starts have a feature called shutdown diagnostics. The procedure to use it varies from model to model, but the basic idea is that you can see what shut the remote start down the last time it shut off.
The choices are something like the following, with a different number of LED flashes for each shutdown.
Remote start timed out
Brake switch shutdown
Hood pin shutdown
Neutral safety shutdown
Remote controller shutdown, including momentary switch.
Over-rev
Low or no RPM
(+/-) input shutdown - this is what it showed immediately after the problem.
The tach and hoodpin have been ruled out as causes because of the what the diagnostics showed, because voltage sensing and no engine checking have been tried here, and because I used the factory hood pin, and if that was the problem it wouldn't initiate the start sequence at all.
What I'm trying to figure out is what the heck the (+/-) input shutdown means - I thought it might have to do with the external (-) and (+) inputs that can be used on the 561R, but they aren't connected or shorted to anything. I'm going to attempt to get some tech support from DEI or my distributor in the morning, but this is really bugging me.

Its refering to the hood pin wire which is grey or the brown brake wire.

You don't have all your ignition wires energized, I had this problem before. You get both accessory wires? RED / yellow to red, blue to WHITE/ blue?

I've never needed the WHITE/ blue second accessory on Nissans.
It is likely that you have the brake or hood wire connected to something that kicks in just after the engine starts.
Try one of these two things:
A. Put a tester onto both the hood and brake wires (one at a time of course) and watch carefully what happens as you operate the remote start.
or,
B. Temporarily, completely disconnect the hood and brake wires altogether, and see what happens.

At this point I'm leaning toward the hood pin, the brake trigger worked normally. I may have to stick a diode on it when I get the car tomorrow.
