I purchased a Clifford RS3 alarm for my truck.  I have never installed an alarm before, but have done stereo systems, as well as other items on the truck.  I decided I would rather do the work than let best buy get thier hands on my truck (poor customer service on other items, and would rather have this custom to my own install),  Anyway, I don't have power locks but bought the poppers they look simple enough to install.   I also have the manual transmission, and notice on here a problem with installing this feature on my truck since it is not an auto tranny.  I do want a safe unit, and am thinking of wiring a switch on the gear shift lever and on the emergency brake.  Logic of being in neutral and e brake on.  Can this be done and tied into the system?  I am also looking for general info, and hints on this install before I jump in.  Again like i said best buy offers "free install", but they also said it will cost at least 70dollars per door, plus what ever else is needed.  I am glad to find this website and thanks for your help

Well, the best advise I can give you is get a unit that is a MANUAL specific unit so you don't have to make your own switches to tie into the system. Most systems out on the market are for all thee types of vehicles ( auto, manual & diesels ). As for the door lock solenoids, you won't have any problems adding these to the doors. The doors pop off easily. Here is the wiring diagram for the truck:

2000 Ford Super Duty Truck wiring colors:

Notes:*1 Non-keyless versions are 5 wire located in the drivers door harness. Keyless versions are negative trigger located in a gray molex plug to the right side of the steering column *2 Located in a gray molex plug to the right side of the steering column. *3 Tach can also be located in the main harness that runs on the inside of the firewall to the left of the brake pedal. *4 PCM is located on the left side of fire wall. *5 There are two RED / black wires at the ignition harness, use the heavier gauge wire of the two. *6 Diesel tach is a WHITE/ pink and the diesel wait to start wire is BLACK/ pink (-), this wire MUST be diode isolated from the instrument cluster to keep the battery from draining 'see direct fax document #1090'. Both wires are located at the PCM or can also be located in the main harness that runs on the inside of the firewall to the left of the brake pedal.

The best buy I had a run in with was in Pheonix az,  It had to do with a computer and warrenty work,  It was a true mess, and they did not care.  My computer again broke a few weeks ago so I took it to a different best buy in the valley and they seem much better, (this is the place I purchased the alarm from).  But the first best buy will never again get my buisness.

Jeff

Thank you very much for the info.  I dont think they make the RS3 for a manual,I may be wrong,  but I do like the features on it,  So yes I am still thinking about how I am going to wire the remote start feature,  not so much for starting the truck from the house, I like to watch the guages (pilot thing) when I start,  but would like to have the features, so I can pull the key out leave the engine running to cool the turbo, or for a quick errand.  Also it has a feature for cold nights,  ( I do spend time in gunnison coloraodo (nothing to see -40 degrees), where it will run the truck every say 2 hours all night, if I cant plug it in.

Like I said this is my first install of an alarm system, some of it really makes sense and some of it takes me a while to understand why.   I am sure I will have more questions as I dive into this project. thanks again
